What I’ve been doing since 1977! I’m currently a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV in the recovery room. I’ve been a nurse since 1980! I left West Virginia in 1990 to become a traveling nurse for 13 1/2 years. That was a lot of fun! I’ve worked in Hawaii, Los Angeles, Yuma, Arizona, Las Vegas, Morgantown, Virginia, Miami, the Florida Keys, many other places in Florida, and in New Orleans.
I’m single and have been divorced forever and never had any children.
My biggest passion is travel, having been fortunate to go to Europe twice, on 7 cruises, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. There’s so much to see and do!
I’ve enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, snorkeling, growing lots of houseplants, and am currently working on improving my big old brick home.
In June 2007 I enjoyed coming to Kenova for the New Generation Choir reunion at the First Baptist Church of Kenova. We also celebrated the church’s Jubilee and Dan Ferguson serving 50 years as music director there. It was great to sing all of our old favorite tunes again and watch the entire weekend-in-review on the DVD we had made.
My fondest memories of high school and living in the C-K communities! I loved playing the clarinet and bass clarinet in the band and attending all the football games and parades. I didn’t like band practice in the hot summer in the field by the floodwall.
Remember hanging out at the Parkette drinking cherry coke? Once they tore down Parkette Evaroni’s was the place to hang out. Remember the Old Main Building and having pep rallys in the 3rd floor auditorium? The rivalry football and basketball games between C-K, Vinson, and Buffalo would always get the crowd worked up to a fever pitch.
My worst memory for the community was the Marshall plane crash, followed by the fire at Dreamland Pool. I loved spending everyday at the pool in the summer, hanging out at the deck of the pavilion or going boating on the river at Virginia Point on our boat the Mis Spent which was popular among many Kenova residents.
Since my sister, Stan, and brother Jack and I were in high school at the same time, our home on Poplar Street was the local hang out for many C-K students. Anyone remember singing Old Black Water with Tim Bonke on the band bus or trying to get as many pictures of yourself in the yearbook as you could?
