VANCE LEE "PAPI" MEALEY, 48, of Kenova, W.Va., departed this life Thursday, November 8, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will take place 1 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Bruce Day. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. Vance was born February 18, 1959,    in Huntington, W.Va. to Drema Thompson Mealey and the late Jerry K. Mealey. He was a machine operator for   Rubberlite Inc. Vance was a wonderful and devoted husband, son, father and grandfather who enjoyed life with his family, his favorite being able to spend time playing with his grandchildren, who are the apple of his eye. He spent much of his younger years either coaching his two children in sports or watching from the stands cheering them on. He always encouraged his children there was nothing in life they could not do. He will be remembered for always having a big smile on his face or making jokes. He would do anything for anyone who asked; he never knew a stranger. He was adored by all who knew him. Vance is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Deborah "Debbie" Ratcliff Mealey; one son, Jerad Mealey of Lavalette, W.Va.; one daughter, Jessica Hogsett of Kenova, W.Va.; his mother, Drema Mealey of Kenova, W.Va.; one brother, Steve Mealey of Kenova, W.Va.; uncle, Fred (Connie) Mealey of South Point, Ohio; two aunts, Garnet Mealey of Proctorville, Ohio and Cecelia Pelfry of Kokomo, Ind.;  three precious grandchildren who he greatly adored, Trenton Hogsett, Bella Lane and Gavin Flynn and one expectant granddaughter, Gwendolyn Renee Mealey, all of whom will greatly miss him. We can't wait for the day we all can be together once again in God's loving arms. We may have lost an exceptionally wonderful man, but God gained yet  another   angel. A very special thank you to the open heart recovery nurses at St. Mary's Medical Center, Lisa, Erica and Linda who made something so tragic seem somewhat bearable with all their kind words and compassion they gave our family during our short time with them. Words cannot express our gratitude for God bringing each of you into our lives. We will never forget you. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home.
