What I’ve been doing since 1977! Since high school I have pretty much stayed in school! Attended Marshall University, went to work for the Pilgrim Glass Corporation as Director of Marketing and Sales of the Art Glass Division. Later went back to school and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in rural health care and mental health care until returning to Mountain State University and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and I am a Registered Nurse.
I currently work as a Critical Care Nurse in the ICU at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. I am now a graduate student at Walden University working on my Master’s Degree in Nursing Education and plan to teach nursing upon graduation.
I have remained single through the years and have helped my parents with health issues until my mother passed away in October 2006. I have 2 nieces that I have pretty much spoiled rotten over the last 20 years and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
I am a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and the Kentucky Board of Nursing. I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross.
When time allows, I spend as much of it as possible on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I enjoy reading, playing Backgammon, photography, cooking, good wine, and beach-combing! (Not always in that order!)
My fondest memories of high school and living in the C-K communities! Playing softball on Katie Akers’ team with Susan, Patti, and all the gang! Softball sleepovers and scavenger hunts…along with a few snowball adventures that I won’t go into detail about! But those involved will know just what I mean! Band trips, Friday night football games, toilet papering Vinson High School, and being pretty much care-free! |
